Perfect

Great application, really for photographers like me

PhotoBuddy 1.6

With 45 years experience in photography, I learned in an era before the current digital "smart cameras" could select the "perfect" exposure settings. I have a Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III and appreciate automation, but sometimes for the optimum images, understanding manual exposure is critical. For depth of field assessment, Photobuddy is absolutely invaluable, dead-on accurate, and saves considerable time over the trial-and-error or "judge-through-a-darkened-stopped-down-lens" approach. It is easily worth the small price paid for the DOF calculations alone. If you spend any time with the sun and moon chart and use the blue arrows and "dropdowns", it works flawlessly, I use this feature for purposes other than photography (hunting) and can input and future date and get instant readouts. I have experienced no "low memory problems on my 3G iPhone. I cannot find the step wedge mentioned by other reviewers (feature removed?), and recommend to the author that the manual be updated (covers version 1.0).

Seems cool so far...

Please add the Nikon D7000, and Ill give ya 5. Thanks

Great app but

Need to add new cameras .... Please add Nikon D7000.

Could be great, but not now

Gps does not work Needs a facelift and refine interface This could potentially be an app I would pay 20 bucks for if developers kept it up to date and put more effort into it. Worthy of 5 stars once its actually finished How but it developers Waiting......... Waiting......... Waiting......... UPDATE App was updated today GPS coordinates still does not work Waiting......... Waiting......... Waiting.........

???

I bought this app because it was recommended in a photography book. Im not a professional photographer. The manual you can download from a computer needs a lot of work. It is hard to understand - needs much better instruction. Im hoping to find a better set of instructions someone else may have written. Cant find the grey wedge anywhere on the app. Am I missing something? When I figure out how it works I will reevaluate.

Conflicting Data

Drop down on the Sun & Moon page is giving me a later moonrise time than the chart. The chart has the accurate time.

Photobuddy

Cannot get the GPS to work so sthe main reason for my purchasing the app doesnt work (sunrise/sunset times) How do I get my money back????????

GPS has not worked for some time now.

This WAS a great app, but whats the deal with the GPS for sunrise/sunset times no longer working? The option to auto-update is constantly greyed out, but the option to auto-update the date is not. You have to now manually enter longitude and latitude data (and whos going to do that). This feature has been non-functional for some time… way longer than it should have been as it is (and has always been) a primary feature of this app. I hope Ambertation can get this working soon. I dont really understand why it hasnt been addressed yet.

Used to be Great

GPS doesnt work anymore so you cant get reliable sunrise/sunset information. Dont bother attempting to contact developer, you wont get a response.

Much good; no GPS; tons of potential

Bought this after seeing it mentioned in a DPR round-up of iPhone photography tools. The DoF calculator alone is worth the price -- works well, and has a nifty and useful dynamic scale. Several of the other sub-apps are also useful, particularly the Exposure page, but lack of working GPS really cripples the Sun & Moon sub-app, which would otherwise be quite useful. The web-site and the User Manual need to be reworked: features no longer included are mentioned, and typos abound. Purchase it for the DoF and the Exposure calculators. The rest needs some overdue work.

Not worth the money

The only tool in here that seems to be of much use is the DoF calculator, and there are a variety of free ones available. The flash menu and the sunrise/sunset calculator both give me inaccurate information, although they would both be amazingly useful if they worked.

Surprisingly Buggy

The first problem I encountered was that, after changing the units to feet, it insisted on changing them back to yards. But it also crashes so frequently that its really unusable. I had seen good reviews in the past, so I tried it. But it turned out to be useless and a complete waste of my money.

Not so good

It used to be good, but with the latest version, after using the app for a while, it starts crashing and have to re-install it every time. Other than that I havent found any major bugs.

Dont purchase!!!!

I hate being taken advantage of, and paying for an app that crashes constantly does just that. Terrible terrible terrible. Money back please!

I should have paid more attention to the reviews :-(

Crash. That says it all. Otherwise, a very nice and complete app. Most of the problems seem to be with the Imperial units selected, but possibly with the metric, as well. FIX IT and youll get a good review from me.

VERY disappointed!

I have not been able to use this app even 1 time without is completely shutting down on me. It drives me completely batty!!!!! Use your $$ elsewhere.

Love this app

I love this app and have really leaned a ton from it, while continuing to use as a shoot planning guide. Is it me or does the apps inability to screen rotate cause a problem in seeing the range of sunrise times (it gets cut off on my iphone 5)?

I want my money back

Dont waste your money or your time. I would give zero stars but Im not allowed.

Cant Determine Location

This APP has a lot of useful tools; however, a few are rendered useless because the app cannot find your location.
