Anyway to switch to imperial on watch?
Anyway to switch to imperial on watch?
Most useful all around camera tool kit on the store, but it either needs a way to add cameras manually or update the database more often. I know the calculations for most everything are the same for my E-M1 Mark II (not listed) as for the original (listed), but it's still weird seeing the resolution listed wrong when checking things.
Very good app. I was also looking for Mavic Pro on here, to make calculations. Or, can I manually add it?
I mainly use this app for its depth of field calculator. It works great for this purpose!
This app has replaced a few I had on my iPhone. The tool set is excellent. The DOF with a integrated camera database shared with exposure and sunset/sun are all a huge help. The interface is clean and uncluttered. The bottom the app with icons is well thought out based on progression one uses before taking the shot. Great app.
Don't get this app..... It half work... Not Worth the money
This APP has a lot of useful tools; however, a few are rendered useless because the app cannot find your location.
Don't waste your money or your time. I would give zero stars but I'm not allowed.
I love this app and have really leaned a ton from it, while continuing to use as a shoot planning guide. Is it me or does the app's inability to screen rotate cause a problem in seeing the range of sunrise times (it gets cut off on my iphone 5)?
I have not been able to use this app even 1 time without is completely shutting down on me. It drives me completely batty!!!!! Use your $$ elsewhere.
Crash. That says it all. Otherwise, a very nice and complete app. Most of the problems seem to be with the Imperial units selected, but possibly with the metric, as well. FIX IT and you'll get a good review from me.
I hate being taken advantage of, and paying for an app that crashes constantly does just that. Terrible terrible terrible. Money back please!
It used to be good, but with the latest version, after using the app for a while, it starts crashing and have to re-install it every time. Other than that I haven't found any major bugs.
The first problem I encountered was that, after changing the units to feet, it insisted on changing them back to yards. But it also crashes so frequently that it's really unusable. I had seen good reviews in the past, so I tried it. But it turned out to be useless and a complete waste of my money.
The only tool in here that seems to be of much use is the DoF calculator, and there are a variety of free ones available. The flash menu and the sunrise/sunset calculator both give me inaccurate information, although they would both be amazingly useful if they worked.
Bought this after seeing it mentioned in a DPR round-up of iPhone photography tools. The DoF calculator alone is worth the price -- works well, and has a nifty and useful dynamic scale. Several of the other sub-apps are also useful, particularly the Exposure page, but lack of working GPS really cripples the Sun & Moon sub-app, which would otherwise be quite useful. The web-site and the User Manual need to be reworked: features no longer included are mentioned, and typos abound. Purchase it for the DoF and the Exposure calculators. The rest needs some overdue work.
GPS doesn't work anymore so you can't get reliable sunrise/sunset information. Don't bother attempting to contact developer, you won't get a response.
This WAS a great app, but what's the deal with the GPS for sunrise/sunset times no longer working? The option to auto-update is constantly greyed out, but the option to auto-update the date is not. You have to now manually enter longitude and latitude data (and who's going to do that). This feature has been non-functional for some time… way longer than it should have been as it is (and has always been) a primary feature of this app. I hope Ambertation can get this working soon. I don't really understand why it hasn't been addressed yet.
Cannot get the GPS to work so sthe main reason for my purchasing the app doesn't work (sunrise/sunset times) How do I get my money back????????
Drop down on the Sun & Moon page is giving me a later moonrise time than the chart. The chart has the accurate time.
I bought this app because it was recommended in a photography book. I'm not a professional photographer. The manual you can download from a computer needs a lot of work. It is hard to understand - needs much better instruction. I'm hoping to find a better set of instructions someone else may have written. Can't find the grey wedge anywhere on the app. Am I missing something? When I figure out how it works I will reevaluate.
Gps does not work Needs a facelift and refine interface This could potentially be an app I would pay 20 bucks for if developers kept it up to date and put more effort into it. Worthy of 5 stars once it's actually finished How but it developers Waiting......... Waiting......... Waiting......... UPDATE App was updated today GPS coordinates still does not work Waiting......... Waiting......... Waiting.........
Need to add new cameras .... Please add Nikon D7000.
Please add the Nikon D7000, and I'll give ya 5. Thanks
With 45 years experience in photography, I learned in an era before the current digital "smart cameras" could select the "perfect" exposure settings. I have a Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III and appreciate automation, but sometimes for the optimum images, understanding manual exposure is critical. For depth of field assessment, Photobuddy is absolutely invaluable, dead-on accurate, and saves considerable time over the trial-and-error or "judge-through-a-darkened-stopped-down-lens" approach. It is easily worth the small price paid for the DOF calculations alone. If you spend any time with the sun and moon chart and use the blue arrows and "dropdowns", it works flawlessly, I use this feature for purposes other than photography (hunting) and can input and future date and get instant readouts. I have experienced no "low memory problems on my 3G iPhone. I cannot find the step wedge mentioned by other reviewers (feature removed?), and recommend to the author that the manual be updated (covers version 1.0).
Great application, really for photographers like me
Needs suggested exposure for more low light situations with variable ISO feature. Such as: Star trails Stationary stars Candle light Light painting Stroboscopic Traffic at night
I especially like the depth of field calculator. The only con is that on the iPad it does not track the location, and requires manual entry of coordinates.
I really like this app, even on my iPad. It does much more than just calculating DoF. It offers the most commonly needed features all in one app. I really like the subject size vs focal length calculator, it gives you a good idea what lens you will need depending on your subject and distance, and then you jump right to the DoF calculation to find the right f-stop. The CC is set by the camera type, but it offers you a realistic use number based on that, which really makes sense. Calculating the DoF only on the camera is technically not correct. This app gives a real life use scenario to find out what the DoF really will be based on that. Great app for a very reasonable price.
A must buy for all serious photographers.
Lots of goof stuff in here. I use the sun & moon piece *quite* often. Nitpicking: the time for the sun being highest in the sky always shows AM when it should be PM. Not nitpicking: the app seems fundamentally broken in iOS 4. GPS no longer works (changing location is grayed out) & the app will randomly crash. If these things get ironed out, I'd give this app at least 1 more star.
I can't get this new version to run for more than about 30 seconds on a 3G before abruptly exiting with no error message or anything. No response from the company to bug reports. STAY AWAY! Good idea VERY POORLY executed and with no support.
Generally cool, but the distance units change from feet to inches to yards as the distance set changes. Let me set feet and keep seeing feet - I don't want it to change on me. I'm not seeing the Gray Wedge option anywhere. Also the color temp is almost unreadable over the busy background. Finally it would be nice to be able to save multiple cameras and lenses. But generally pretty decent.
Sun/Moon: must set location by lattitude and longitude. It has a google map to show the location you selected bu it doesn't use the phones current location as the starting point - it starts a lat 0, longitude 0. No list of cities is available. Displays a complex but confusing graph of the sun/moon rise/set times. This calculation should be usable even if there is no network connection. DOF: all settings are made with a wheel for each digit of the number. Simple but not the fastest way to change things. Several unusual but useful tools include the slate (locatin, time, comment); color temperture table; and timer for long bulb exposures. This app has the best set of tools of any similar app currently available.
I love this app. It keeps getting better and better. Tons of helpful info.
I love how you can customize the icons at the bottom. Not all the features are useful to me, but the ones that are are done really well. A viewfinder feature would be cool. Something like the Artemis app, but for still cameras.
This app is loaded with features any photographer would want to have by their side. The only problem is the interface is really lacking. Navigation through the app is very painful and controls are used in non-standard ways. This app needs a serious facelift.
Version 1.4.1 solves the low memory problem. This is a very handy program for photographers. It provides a good deal of useful information in a clear way. Although, most of the features can be found on other apps, it is nice to have them all in one place. Great job. I would have given it 5 stars, if only you could use the iPhone camera to measure distances with a 3G.
Saw this app recommended on a photo blog, and unfortunately downloaded prior to checking reviews. THIS APP DOES NOT WORK. Immediately after opening, the app must shut down, because of 'low memory.'
LIke the others report, the applcation hangs with a low memory error :(
What the heck? Can't run for more than 2 minutes without getting low memory. Don't buy unless they fix this problem.
I've never had an iPhone app complain about low memory. Photobuddy is the first. First it was the intuitiveness of the calculations and now it's memory inefficient. Fix it or I'll just go back to the other photo calculators.
Great app in theory. But it is lacking severely due to the fact it is constantly crashing. I can't work in it for more than 2-3 min without it crashing. Please update and I will change my review.
Being new to photography this app helps me make quick adjustments that save me alot of time. Well worth the $2 pricetag!
Nice DoF info; haven't used the other features much yet.
This is a great application for anyone with a DSLR or SLR who wants to take better photographs.
I've been using this app for about a day now and I really like the interface for the exposure calculator and the slide-able depth of field calculator. The bulb timer is a convenient little addition that saves me the trouble of going to Apple's clock app. Their extensive use of wheels to set numbers is their best feature. Any method that avoids typing on the iPhone is a major plus. The DoF calculator may take a bit of practice to understand. To get the hang of how their sliding DoF range finder works, lock in the focal length and subject distance. Select the "Aperture" button to make the DoF calculator figure out the correct f-stop. Then look down to the graphic. The tree is your subject and the vertical lines are your DoF range. Drag either vertical line to where you want your DoF limits to be. If you want to focus using the hyperfocal distance, drag the far limit all the way to the right. Then play with the near limit line and see what f-stop the calculator spits out. Then click the "Table" button in the upper left hand corner. This will toggle off the graphic and show the results in a table. The hyperfocal distance will be at the top of the table. The one problem I've found is the grey wedge for custom white balancing (and metering, although I haven't tried using it for that). I do not think it is possible to use any screen image to calibrate white balance. The light is emitted from the iPhone and is not reflected ambient light, therefore it will skew your white balance. I have experimented with using a free flashlight app that generates a completely white screen. This also failed to white balance correctly and gave the exact same result as the grey wedge. All-in-all, probably the best $2 photo app. right now.
Great app great price! Keep up the good work! Possible future add-ons have a user pref save feature? So we can Save our own presets? Possible geotagger? Hope your listning
Compared DOF and Hyperfocal Distance with other applications and on-line tables. distance returned with this app is very different. check 4 others which converged. Might want to take a look. I used Nikon D80 camera. Like the other aspects although still learning interface.
